Windscreen Wiper arms
Can anyone please tell me what the width of the wiper arms should be on a UK 1965 MGB Roadster? The ones on my car are 7.2 mm, which is making it difficult to find wiper blades that fit. I recently bought a pair from eBay, advertised as suitable for 7mm arms, but in fact the slot where the wiper arm...

Lighter steering
Although it has never overly bothered me before, as I get older I am finding the heaviness of my MGB's steering increasingly arduous. I know there are a number of possible solutions to this - castor reducing wedges to fit between subframe and chassis, hydraulic power steering, electric power steerin...

Ignition Timing
I have a 1965 MGB Roadster with a lightly tuned engine - bored out to 1865cc, head and block lightly skimmed, standard camshaft, K&N carbs. Does anyone have any thoughts on the possible benefit of advancing the standard ignition timing from the factory setting of 13 degrees BTDC?? I am now runni...

Re: SU Carb needle profiles
Thanks for that. Actually I think I may have answered my own question! I am now running on number 6 needles, which is what is recommended for lightly tuned engines - eg just with K&N filters. Looking at the profile which I got from following the "Tegleriser" link in an earlier response...

Re: SU Carb needle profiles
Hi Peter, Thank you for your quick and very knowledgeable reply. Unfortunately I made a mistake in my original post (now corrected). I have just removed the needle and the number stamped on them is S6, not L. I had mis-remembered, the tuner had tried L needle first, then put in the S6 ones and then,...

SU Carb needle profiles
Hello again everybody. Could anyone advise on which would be a suitable needle profile for a mildly up-rated 18GB engine? I had this engine re-built last year, over-bored +0.060", which gives capacity of 1865 cc I think. New standard cam fitted, standard pistons, but both head and block lightly...

Re: SU Carb float needles
Thanks to everyone for your helpful replies. Moss have refunded my purchase price plus a small compensation. In the meantime I have re-fitted my original float needles and so far there has been no leakage. I will keep a careful watch on them and see how things go. If they leak again perhaps I'll try...

SU Carb float needles
Has anyone else experienced problems with float needle valves? I have just fitted a pair of new needle valves from Moss. They are of the 'soft tip' type, rather than the existing metal tip type and I have replaced both needle and seat. Both carbs have refused to seal. Initially it was just the back ...

Re: Remote Servo position
Hi Pete and thanks for your very informative reply. I've owned my 1965 roadster since 1985 and never thought much about fitting a servo. However, in the last few years, a couple of things have changed my mind. Firstly, I also have a Lotus Elan +2S. This had no servo when I got it 12 years ago, but w...
