Well, been a while and sadly still not sorted the running out. Misfiring at low revs and stuttering when running. Have replaced the leads, rotor arm and cap (123 ignition) played around with the carb settings and still getting nowhere!! Might be time to call in for reinforcements.... take it to a ga...

Thanks guys, perhaps I will play around with the settings for a bit to try and get the optimum settings - lets face it I/we have plenty of spare time at the moment.

Well, that worked!! It spat once upon starting and wouldn’t tick over properly however, once thoroughly warmed up I set the airflow and balance on both carbs, set Tick over. Thanks Ian, Do you remember what measurement you ended up with? When I measured mine they were 085 thou and the other 100 thou, balanced them at 085 thou for now. I know not everyone’s set up will be the same (too many variables within our engines/set up) Just interested as to what yours are current...

Lots of things to look at, the timings fine that I know I adjusted the airflow so that is ok, linkages are opening together so ok as well, dashpot oil refreshed, will recheck piston is not binding I have already cleaned them up very careful not to touch damage the needles. I do not have a colourtune...

Would a sticky float cause spitting through a carb When increasing the revs Or will it just be a case of the carbs not set up right ie too rich/lean? Charles spot on, I looked at the distributor again this morning the rotor arm key way inside was damaged and misshapen, I cleaned this up and put it back into shape as best I could cleaned the contacts on the cap again and refitted. Car thankfully started, she is running rough but the carbs need tun...

Not sure as it’s difficult to see directly, I did look at the cap and this appeared damaged inside at the back of the contacts. Some of the plastic which holds them into position had broken away.
