Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
At last a perfect running car
Now time to own up....
Problem of the air leak turned out to be a washer (don’t ask how it got there as I haven’t a clue!!) behind the heat shield on the lower bolt.. this caused the shield to twist and not seal properly and blow the gasket apart.

Re: Heritage certificate
Peter,
A heritage certificate is basically your cars birth certificate.
It shows all the build details, ie what wheels are fitted, extras fitted, chassis number, when built, etc etc
You can apply for one through the British motor museum £43 + pp

Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
No problem Ian, sometimes by posting solutions to your own difficulties it can help others.
Just frustrating that when you purchase new items they turn out to be faulty,
aide - memoir
Check and recheck all new parts before fitting!!
Will update again when new parts arrive and fitted.

Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
Right, here goes update 1 checked 123 dizzy - NEW cap, pin inside jammed permanently up - not spotted when fitted 🙄 so cap U/S Timing slightly out requires tweaking, however, 123 locked in solid pry bar would not shift it so even bigger pry bar initiated 😡 Air leaking around rear carb manifold 🤬 NEW...

Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
No worries thanks for the thought though.
I bought a new rotor arm and cap through MGOC they did ask what year did I purchase it as the newer ones (programmable 123) are different.

Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
Just had a look at the 25D looks perfectly serviceable so may swap it back as a last resort.
Good idea for a second set of eyes to look over what I have done if there is anyone in north essex willing I would be very grateful.

Re: Spitting through HS4 carb
I did think that the problem may be the 123 as it’s a mare to initially start (fire) but have never heard of one going wrong, I suppose there is always a first time!! I still have the dizzy that I removed, there was nothing wrong with it at the time worked perfectly well. It was changed purely for t...
