Re: ULEZ
I've just checked on the London ULEZ site my 1969 MGB V8 conversion and the 1971 MGB roadster which I sold recently. Both are exempt from the London ULEZ charge. However, my 1977 Triumph Dolomite 1850HL is not exempt. Strange isn't it? I live in Scotland and all three of the cars shown above are exe...

Re: Seat adjustment
A tip for refitting the seat. Get hold of four extra bolts of a reasonable length. Cut their heads off. Screw them into the seat fixing holes. Place seat over the headless bolts, then remove them one by one putting the correct bolts in their place. Makes it much easier.

Re: Seat adjustment
I'm only 5' 8" with short legs and a longer back and I have enough headroom in the GT. But when I took it on a local circuit and had to wear a helmet, I was forced to bend my neck to get under the roof. So I understand where you are coming from. How tall are you, and is your height in your back...

Re: Wheel Nut Stripped
I bought four replacement nuts so I would have some spares and although they fit the studs and have the correct taper they are 1/16" larger across the flats. The originals are 3/4" and the new are 13/16". So now I have to carry two different sizes of wheel nut tools! I also lightly oi...

Re: What’s the worst job on an MG
When I rebuilt the roadster a year ago I followed Michael Beswick's method of modifying the crossmember. It worked well for me. See attached PDF.

Re: Head Gasket Failure?
Don't know, never having experienced HGF myself. But have you had the rocker box cover off to see if anything is amiss in there?

Wheel Nut Stripped
I've never seen this before in over 50 years of car maintenance. Tightening up my wheel nuts after having the wheel off and one nut wouldn't tighten. Took it off and the thread had separated from the body of the nut. The stud is fine and another nut tightened up nicely. I never overtighten these nut...

Re: Lighter steering
I tried the castor wedges and found they made very little if any difference. And they were a pain to fit. I eventually threw them out, bit the bullet and bought a very expensive EZ electric PAS kit from Holland and fitted it myself. https://www.ezpowersteering.nl/ Recently I had a standard MGB in th...

Re: Help with ignition light and alternator please
I agree Vic, but isn't it also to do with LED bulbs being polarity specific? With the engine off the bulb is lit from the battery, earthing through the alternator. Once the engine starts and the alternator starts charging, the polarity reverses because the alternator produces more volts than the bat...
