Re: Technical Day 2024
I know it's hard to cover all members, but so many of the Register events are south of Birmingham. The 400 mile drive excludes any possibility of me attending the Technical Day. I was secretary of the Caledonian Centre for 6 years and we couldn't find a sensible way to include members living north o...

Re: Headlamp relays
I agree with Michael. With tungsten H4 bulbs relays are almost essential to preserve the 50 year old switch gear. Should the switches fail, the new ones are of poor quality generally. I have quite a few relays and extra fuses which came as standard on my Advance Autowire harness.

Re: Time of Year
If your car is worth more than £10,000 you could try Car and Classic auctions and only pay 6% of the final amount in fees. I sold my roadster last summer through them and it went well, with lots of bids and ending up above my reserve price. Cheaper cars attract increasingly higher seller rates from ...

Re: Time of Year
Buy now, sell when the weather improves, say April or May. Cars, especially convertibles, sell better when the new owner can envisage driving top down.

Re: Source for wiring
I would try https://www.autosparks.co.uk/electrical-components/cables?cat=9 . They make up complete wiring harnesses for most classic cars and have ALL the correct cables with tracer colours. If you buy a harness from most of the MG spares suppliers it will be made by Autosparks. I think other suppl...

Re: Electric windows ?
Thanks guys. For some reason I couldn't locate that kit at first, but have the link now. As far as I am concerned the only advantage of the power kit is that you can open/close the passenger window while driving, something I don't have much call for. Why add unnecessary complication?

Re: Electric windows ?
Can you provide the link to the Moss kit? I can't find it. The RV8 didn't have power windows when new. I believe the manual winder mechanism is the same as the old MGB.

Re: Electric windows ?
I know of an MGB in France that has electric windows - he used parts from modern cars. I don't know which make. Personally I wouldn't bother. The crank handle works fine.

Re: Aluminium radiator
It came from Cambridge Motorsports. Some years ago now. They were good about the first rad failing and sent me another one, but that leaked also. Gave up after that and put a copper/brass one in. No further trouble.

I think the maroon piping points to these being an aftermarket fitment, without even considering all the points Charles has made.
