Re: Aerial on wing

Definitely take the splash panel off to see where you are. There is a small area between the door pillar and the wing support plate and you don't want it to go there. In front of the wing support is fine. Choose your position, I don't think there is a "right" position as these would have b...

Re: mgb parts

MGB Hive also break cars and will supply odd bits they've salvaged.

Re: EBC Brake pads - Dust and Squeal

Regarding George's original post in which he complains about the brake dust, this could be exacerbated by the drilled and grooved discs. Apparently (or so I read) all those edges caused by the holes and grooves cause a cutting type of action on the pad which would cause more dust, and the pad will w...

Re: Bonnet options ?

Mine wouldn't close by dropping. The rule is never press in the centre above the grille badge. Use both hands and push evenly on both sides of the front edge.

Re: Headlight issues

Main and Dip are on entirely different feeds from the flash. The flash gets its power via a purple wire direct from the bottom fuse in the fuse box. The ordinary headlights are powered through the main light switch via a brown wire that comes unfused directly from the battery. Then a blue wire takes...

Re: King Pin Top Bolt

Nothing I tried worked at all so I cut through the bolt both sides of the trunnion with a hacksaw. It was a bit easier than it might have been as the car has no front wings at the moment. Even then, with it on the bench, although the end with the nut came out of the shocker arm, the head end wouldn'...

King Pin Top Bolt

Trying to dismantle the front suspension on my project MGB. All the front suspension parts look like they've been at the bottom of the sea for a while. At the moment I am trying, without success to remove the top bolt that connects the shock absorber arms to the king pin. I have a jack underneath to...

Re: Seat covers

According to Clausager's "Original MGB" seats like you describe were made for the 1972 year only and were fitted to the GT only, not the roadster. The main fabric of the seat was vinyl (Ambla) and the centre panels were brushed nylon. A 1972 car would not have left the factory with leather...

Re: Running on suddenly.

You should try retarding the ignition slightly, something below 12 degrees, perhaps 10 BTDC for example. Going up from 12 to 15 will make it worse. MGB engines are well known for running-on, especially on modern fuels.

Re: Window Winder Handles

Feeling rather pleased with myself as I mastered Designspark and have printed the window handle spacer as shown. I have used some light grey PLA that I happened to have as my car has grey trim, but it could be printed in any colour. Its a bit pale in colour but looks fine to me and took 2 hours to p...
