Re: Electrics: replugging and routing the loom
Thanks Charles, Odd that Im only finding this one single white wire amongst the mass of bullet connectors where the looms meet on the inner wing. (Im assuming this leads to the fuel pump.) At present it connects to 3 greens which as you say doesn't seem right. (There is only 1 place in the diagram a...

Re: Electrics: replugging and routing the loom
Ive been consulting back to the set of wiring diagrams you suggested, just not sure if im missing something. On the Haynes diagram for 1978 onwards UK cars, at the top of the diagram, where 2x W and 2x WN meet at a small rectangular box does this designate they are all connected together at a sinle ...

Re: Electrics: replugging and routing the loom
Ive now got the loom in place under the slam panel and most of the under bonnet wiring identified. With the exception of: Green wire from the gearbox loom:. Cant find it's connection point in the engine bay. There is no corresponding free single or double connector with green wires in the big knot o...

Re: bleeding brakes
The new master cylinder has made all the difference in the world. Surprised to see how much old fluid was still lurking in the rear pipes and cylinders, all is now flushed through with fresh fluid and the air safely expelled.

Re: Drilled and slotted brake disks
I'l see how my original discs look when Ive wire brushed off the surface rust. If they are near perfect still I will leave them as they are until the rest of the car is finished and i get it back on the road. But If they look a bit pitted or grooved I could be tempted to upgrade to the drilled discs...

Re: Engine mud shield / radiator cowl ?
Thanks. I do wonder if the mud shield/ undertray was introduced on the late RB cars to restore directed airflow to the rad otherwise lost when the radiator was moved and the sealing strip above it removed. The brackets and fixings on mine aren't in a good way so I spoke to the chap who makes the sta...

Drilled and slotted brake disks
What is the thinking about drilled and slotted brake disks - are they a worthwhile upgrade. My solid disks would need an awful lot of wire brushing before i can get my 79 BGT back on the road so ive been wondering about replacing them in any event. Are the slotted disks as beneficial as they say and...

Engine mud shield / radiator cowl ?
The engine mud shield on mine ended up being binned by my pal when working on the front end a couple of years ago. It went complete with it's brackets and fixings so Im not clear on what i need to buy to replace it or fit it with Could this be a good opportunity to fit a stainless steel aftermarket ...

Re: bleeding brakes
So am i right in thinking the consensus is: bolt the new master cylinder to the servo in place of the old. Leave the switch either removed entirely or 3 1/2 turns undone. fill the reservoir with fluid connect the unions (carefully one at a time transferring from the old cylinder to limit fluid loss)...

Re: bleeding brakes
No you are absolutely right Vic. There was a label in the way on the packaging, Ive spotted the extra bung where the switch goes now. Reading the two sections in the Haynes manual again Im still not clear if I should first bleed the brakes with the switch fitted (furthest wheel first) and then stop ...
