Re: Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
Just checked that to make sure I'm not crazy! Same with the rest, they either don't bite the threads or wobble about. I think the threads are stripped. The threading appears too deep to be just the steel from the floor board.

Re: Need Help Identifying a Part
So I initially thought the same, but the pump is integrated with the reservoir on this 78. It also only appears to have one connection.

Need Help Identifying a Part
So this is mounted underneath and to the rear of the rear air filter housing. Looks like a vacuum pump of some sort, maybe? It obviously isn't plugged into anything at the moment, and I can't for the life of me find any reference to what it is based on the label.

Re: Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
I have a die set that should be delivered today... I pulled the seat out (the wooden slats were in fact in place still, by the way) and can't tell if the nut is still in. I can see threads, but I'm not sure if they're just where the floor plate is threaded. If I twist the bolt in, it will hold but i...

Re: Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
I was able to get the bolt out with the seat still attached to the rails, and it looks like the threads on the bolt are fine. Maybe a bit worn but definitely not stripped. I didn't pull the seat rail so I wasn't able to pull up the carpet to look down and see if I could see the condition of the thre...

Re: Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
Thanks for the input all! Good to know that it's not a major issue to drill through the bottom plate to access the nut if needed.
On another note, has anyone ever tried using rivet nuts for an application like this? Seems like it could be a good fallback.

Re: Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
Yep, that's the one. I'm really hoping it's just the bolt, that'll make this easy! Just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before so I can start the mental checklist and be pleasantly surprised if it's the easy fix, hah.

Seat Rails Nut Stripped?
Has anyone had any experience replacing the front bolt that holds the driver's seat offside rail to the floor pan? I've noticed mine does not appear to be 'biting' like it should. I can wrench it down tight to the floor, but the moment any pressure is put on it, such as sitting in the seat and shift...

Re: 78 MG B GT...Running Rich?
Thanks for the recommendations. Both Houghton and Baldock are about 45 minutes from my home in north Beds, so shouldn't be too much of a haul to get to either! I just emailed Brown and Gammons for a quotation, will ring Malcolm when I get the chance.

Re: 78 MG B GT...Running Rich?
So I checked the oil in the carbs yesterday, and though I've yet to test drive it to prove it, that could have been my problem. The front carb had plenty of oil in it, and I just topped it off a little bit to get it to the bottom of the neck. The rear carb, however, was almost completely empty. the ...
