The difficulty, if you still have the original threaded holes in the floorpan, is lining up the seat, the wooden runner, with the threaded hole. Would It be worth asking a company such as: "Classic Cars - Rubber Seal Supplier for Your Classic Car" https://coh-baines.co.uk/collections/classic-cars?gf_438969=279312236733 to manufacture a batch for us? They make seals in several types of "rubber" so may have what is required...

As far as I know the chrome fitting just pushes in to holes on the scuttle. Held by small plastic inserts for a tight fit. Just levers out.
At least that's what mine is like.

Thanks for the reply Mike, that's probably what I expected to hear. As it happens I topped up my old heavy duty 6volt batteries ( electrolyte was very low) put them on my Ctek battery conditioner, and they seem fine, so didn't replace them in the end.
