Re: 1970 MGB Tecalamit Oil Filter

Morning Vic & Pete, I think that Pete has hit the nail on the head in that the oil pressure gauge issue seems to arise with the Tecalamit unit when the car has not been used for a while. This is also the case with mine...in the summer and started daily, almost instant reading shown. Leave it for...

Re: 1970 MGB Tecalamit Oil Filter

Morning Vic, I haven't as yet needed to change the filter, so don't know how much oil would be in it. The fact that it seems to have a drain plug on it indicates that there might well be residual oil after the engine has shut down, but of course there would be as the removal operation would be done ...

Re: 1970 MGB Tecalamit Oil Filter

Thanks Vic, I guess the luxury of the anti-drain valve was one of the reasons that I thought a spin-off filter would be a good idea......I don't think that my Tecalamit paper cartridge one has this facility...but I may be wrong. In a way, I hope that I am wrong, as I would like to keep the car as or...

Re: 1970 MGB Tecalamit Oil Filter

Thanks Pete. I quite agree re the long use of the Tecalamit filter by BMC and perhaps I am running away from something that is not chasing me ! The oil pressure shows after about three seconds I suppose, but it is difficult to keep revs low on initial start up on choke just for those first few secon...

1970 MGB Tecalamit Oil Filter

My car has the vertical cartridge oil filter which I would really like to keep for the sake of originality. However, I do notice that the oil pressure takes a little longer to register compared to my later car which has the modern spin off type. Does anybody else have this filter still fitted and do...

Re: New member advice and wanted

Hello Peter, Welcome to this most interesting forum. I don't know where you are based, but if anywhere near mid- Hampshire, you are most welcome to come and have a chat and see the MGB GT that I acquired back in the summer (not for sale !) to get an idea what certain sums of money will get you these...

Re: On this day in 1965

..............and how I would have loved to have been able to afford one ! As it was, 19 years old, I could only just afford to run my £10 worth of Morris 10/4 !!

Re: MGB GT Exhaust System

Thanks for the tips. Will research further on both your suggestions, as you are clearly happy with the results on your own cars.

MGB GT Exhaust System

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced mild steel exhaust system which will restore the classic MG exhaust note to my 1970 GT please.

Currently fitted (by previous owner) with a quite expensive stainless system and it sounds horrible !

Many thanks.

Paul.

MG owners in the Petersfield area.

Seeing Michael Dunn's note re possible informal get togethers leads me to ask if anybody in the Bordon / Petersfield areas of Hampshire would be interested in similar. Like Michael, retired, so day times not an issue either. As an aside, my son runs a "proper" Mini and belongs to a Forum b...
