Re: MGB ownership longevity
Only 20 years of MGB ownership, I'm afraid. 5 years of Midget in the seventies (does anyone know whose got KEH 581K - I want her back) plus half a dozen minis over the years.

Re: Engine Oil
There was a big debate about this on the MG Enthusiasts forum. Lots of useful information here :- https://www.classic-oils.net/Oils-by-Application-and-Type/Four-Stroke-Engine-Oils/Classic-20W50-Multigrades-Mineral-base It appears that the concentrations of the all important ZDDP are as follows :- Mo...

Re: Pot Oil
I've always put 20/50 in my dashpots. The viscosity of oil changes markedly with temperature. Multigrades attempt to address this but aren't wholly successful. You can see that for 20W50 at 20C the viscosity is 582 cSt, but at a typical under bonnet temperature 40C its down to 175 cSt. Its a bit wor...

Re: Boot Carpet Choice
Well its a small MG world. Yvonne, the lady who runs PJM Auto Trimmers in Market Drayton is the previous owner of my MGTF. We have owned the car 10 years now and its performed the job as our second every day car without any problems. It stood outside for that time and is only now starting to bubble ...

Re: Boot Carpet Choice
Manners are the cheapest at £116 for moulded or £61 for non moulded, but this doesn't mean they are the best. You could go up and take a look and see what you think.

Re: Boot Carpet Choice
Hi Paul, Moss are having a winter sale with up to 30% off. I haven't bought carpets from them but I've been very satisfied with what I have bought. I don't think they sell rubbish. You should also consider David Manners, just by junction 2 of the M5, so you can save on postage. MGCC members get 15% ...

Re: Newbie - MGB Roadster on the way!
Hello again Paul, From what you say you are not going to have any trouble with the dreaded tin worm or the MOT for that matter. I cant see any reason why you cant re-fit the chrome bumpers with the fibre glass valences should you wish to, just need to cut some holes with a hole saw for the irons to ...

Re: Newbie - MGB Roadster on the way!
Really nice car. I do prefer to see a car with its chrome bumpers though (I like a bit of bling). Peter's car is for competing in motorsport so not having bumpers is understandable. A fairly easy and inexpensive job to put them back on. Might be worth asking a specialist breakers such as Welsh MG if...

Re: Newbie checking in
Hi Paul Don't worry about loosing money on an MGB, that's most unlikely, but depends what you gave for it in the first place, I suppose. The closest local group to you in Solihull is either the Arden MG club or the group that meets at the Millwrights Arms in Warwick. Please see Midland Centre websit...

Re: Taller suspension for a trials MGB
As Peter says the best person to talk to is Brian Osborn, he has been competing in Trials for about 30 years in his MGB. He wont mind me telling you that he's 80 now but still entering in the likes of the Lands End, Exeter and Edenborough trials. His car has become more and more specialised over the...
