Hello Nigel
On Le cars the original paint codes should be shown on the chassis plate.
You don’t say whether your car is a roadster or GT.
Try the following
Gt Pewter Metalic Paint code BLVC377 or MMD
Roadster Bronze metallic Paint code BLVC370 or BMC
Best regards

Re: Newbie request for help/recommendation. TQ
Hello Stu
Also try Kennington motors. I use them to mot my MGB and have used them for body work in the past. They do a lot of work on MGBS and have always found them to be helpful and not over expensive. Ask for Dan.

Re: Speedo drive worm gear and pinion
Hello David Like Vic, I have been doing a little digging and the following may help. By counting the teeth you may be able to work out what gear is fitted on the output shaft. Chrome bumper cars (Black plate) Speedo output shaft drive gear should be Blue 8 teeth. The matching pinion gear should be w...

Re: Speedo drive worm gear and pinion
Hello David Sorry can’t help with colour of the worm drive. With regard to the wavering/not working speedo, have you checked the tightness of the nut on the gearbox output shaft where the prop-shaft connect to the gearbox? On later gearboxes this nut hold the speedo drive gear tight on the shaft. If...

Re: 123 ignition
Hi Vic The 123 installation manual shows connecting the red 12 volt feed from the distributor to the positive terminal of the coil. If you follow this instruction on a rubber bumper car the distributor will only be supplied with 6 volts. As you suggest a separate 12v feed from the fuse box will be r...

Re: 123 ignition
Hello Stephen Could the problem be with the voltage being supplied to the 123 Ignition? Your car would originally have been fitted with a 6 Volt ignition system using a 6 volt coil and a ballast resistor built into the loom. This resistor is bypassed when the starter motor is engaged to provide 12 v...

Hello Malcolm
Forgot to add that 582F also indicates overdrive was fitted when it left the factory.

Re: Engine numbers

H - High compression 19843 – Engine serial No So your engine matches your log book. Hope this helps. Mike B...

Re: Gearbox Oil Change 1974 MGB
Hello Tim Unless you were having problems engaging the overdrive prior to the oil change do not be tempted to remove the Pump or Valve.(both under the filter plate). They can be tricky to refit correctly and there is a chance your overdrive will not work properly once back together. Leave well alone...

Re: Rear heated window relay
Hi Guys
I think i should qualify my previous comment. Charles is of couse correct in stating a HRW relay was fitted to later cars . However the question concerned a 75 car. Ido not think the relay was fitted until 76 onwards . Maybe Peter can let us know.
Best regards
