Re: Starter motor plastic cover removal
Hi Dave The starter motor cover is not the easiest to remove. The plastic goes hard with temperature and time. Try using a hairdryer on the cover to make it softer and more pliable. You should then be able to wiggle it off. The wiring to the solenoid is the main feed from the battery then to the res...

Re: MGB GT front Qlight rubbers
Hi Good article Paul. I’m sure this may help answer Grahams question. Unfortunately parts quality is starting to become a major issue. Just ask anyone who has recently fitted new MGB clutch kit! I cannot comment on Rimmer Bros parts, but I do know that most rubber components for the MGB are manufact...

Re: Brakes continually need re-bleeding / reservoir needs topping up
Hello Paul I would agree with Mike. I experienced the same problem a couple of years ago and suffered complete brake failure. Couldn't find any leaks but when I removed the Servo, the main vacuum chamber was full of fluid. A tell-tale sign is white smoke from the exhaust as brake fluid is sucked int...

Re: Starter engages when ignition turned to on.
Hi Dave Wow looks like you have had some real fun with the electrics on your car. Without seeing the car I think this is not going to be an easy fix but let try. You mentioned the ballast wire burned out on your car. This is a pink wire that runs in the loom to the front of the car, across the slam ...

Re: Fitting inertia real seat belts to a roadster
Hi Mike
Thanks forthe picture most helpful. i spoke to BMH and they measured the position of the seatbelt mount in a new shell. They have confirmed it is 1.75"from the rear bulkhead and same up from the chassis rail.
Thanks to all for your help.
Best regards

Re: Fitting inertia real seat belts to a roadster
Hello Ian and Paul Thanks for your feedback. I was looking at the Securcon seat belts as they seem to have an adjustment to allow operation at different angles. However from what I can see, they need an additional bracket to allow them to attach to the wheel arch. What I can’t find is any informatio...

Fitting inertia real seat belts to a roadster
Hi I would like to replace the original static seat belts in my 74 MGB roadster with inertia belts. Looking on the internet most of the main parts suppliers sell seat belt kits suitable for my car. They all state fitting instructions are included, but frustratingly they do not provide a facility to ...

Re: Header rail question
Hello Allen I had a look at my roof today and the blocks are in line with Ian’s pictures. My roof is the original one fitted by the factory (1974) and although no consolation to you, has never leaked even when driven back from Stoneleigh in Feb during storm Dennis. I’m not sure if your Header rail/r...

Re: Relays
Hi Tom I fitted the relay mod to the Headlights about 4 years ago to reduce the current (≥10A) and volts drop through the switch gear. As i use my horn very rarely, I used the purple 12v wire going to the horns as the live feed for the relays. This is effectively connected via the bottom fuse in the...
